That’s Kickass.

Buzzco showed me this
gaim plugin and it’s excellent. It gives on screen notification without
messing with the panel or getting in the way. Here’s a screenshot, try it
out.

That’s a Bummer

So I got a paper cut on my lip from a gum wrapper (don’t ask). Now whenever
I smile it rips a little bit. Stupid wound.

Holy Motherfucking Shit.

Hello gentle readers, so I did it again. I hit a curb with my GTI, ruined
the driverside wheel and deployed half my airbags. I’m ok but once again my
car is in the shop and I’m out a deductable. What really sucks is I just got
my last deductable back from April when i got hit and my Golf was totaled. The
other thing that sucks is I hit the curb a HALF MILE AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP
WHERE I JUST PICKED THE CAR UP FROM BEING FIXED.
Stupid. On a side note, mad props to my friends in Pok. Buzzco came to the
rescue to pick me up and quite a few people checked in to make sure I was ok.
Jeff Bisti even suggested I avoid cars and just get a bike. (The joke there is
I hurt myself worse on a bike than any other wheeled vehical.)
So that happened.
I dunno, in other news I hung out with Eli, Doug & Co. at Noah’s for happy
hour last week. Happy hour turned into quite a few hours at the bar, the bar
turned into a trip to the diner, then we all got puppies. It was a great
night. Except the puppies part. That was a lie.
That’s about it right now. I’m battling a DMA problem with my 160GB drive
which has made my computer dog slow. Of course my 250GB SATA drive works just
fine but I can’t install onto it thanks to an awesome bug in the Debian
Installer (hence the ubuntu installer). Anyway I am going to fix it somehow
until then I will complain.
Freaking piece of crap computer.

Make Firefox Faster

Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and
look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you
enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page
loading.

Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means
it will make 30 requests at once.

Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it
“nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the
amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it
recieves.

Time to stop Drinking?

I don’t know, what do you want to do?

So, things have happened. In no particular order:

ironturtle.org the mightiest server ever died over christmas. Just
got it running again on friday.
no blogging for a couple weeks, oddly I caught myself a few times
meaning to put something on my site and then being a little sad it
died
I met a chick with a hook for a hand. When I was introduced to her
though he hands (or lack thereof) were hidden. I put my hand out to
shake and was confronted with the hook. CRAP!
It was my birthday Jan 5th. I am now 25, exactly half my dad’s
age.
Dowem moved to lovely Poughkeepsie
Recieved hook wound to hand. Repaired it with those little round
bandaids that always get leftover from the box of bandaids.
Doug Kimbell booted in my bathroom.
My desktop now runs Fedora Core 3. Not sure if I like it
yet…

That’s about it. Most of these things would have been their own blog post but
I just can’t keep up with that kind of volume.
